Preferences & Highlighting Guide

Use this page as a quick-reference manual for every control inside the Preferences modal (slider icon).

1. Opening & Saving Preferences

  1. Look for the sliders icon () in the top navigation bar. Tap/click it to open the Preferences modal.
  2. Adjust any settings you need. All sections are grouped by purpose so you can work top-to-bottom.
  3. Press Save changes to store everything in your browser (local storage). Changes apply immediately and persist between visits in the same browser.

Tip: Use the modal on desktop, tablet, or phone. The layout adapts automatically.

2. Bible Settings

Bible Option
BibleGateway adds links to BibleGateway passages. Biblia Reftagger shows popup verses powered by Faithlife. Choose the option that works best for your reading style or available translations.
Bible Version
Select from the pre-loaded list (KJV, NKJV, ESV, NLT, NASB, NIV, AMP, MSG). This version is appended to all BibleGateway links or Biblia lookups.
Load Bible Verses In
Decide where scripture links open:
  • Current Browser Tab: Replace the current lesson tab with the passage.
  • New Browser Tab: Keep the lesson open and read the passage separately.

3. Display Settings

Font Size
Enter any value between 10 px and 30 px. Use smaller numbers to fit more text on screen, or larger numbers for easier reading.
Font Weight
Values run from 100 (thin) to 900 (extra bold) in steps of 100. 400 is regular, 500–600 adds emphasis, 700+ feels bold like headlines.

Both settings update the entire lesson body. If something looks off, reopen the modal and enter different values, then save again.

4. Text Highlighting

Enable & Color

Use the checkbox to turn highlighting on. Choose your preferred highlight color with the color picker — it applies to all new highlights.

How to Highlight

  • Select text with your mouse, keyboard (Shift + arrow keys), or touch (tap, hold, drag handles).
  • The highlighted portion is saved for the current page only.

Removing Highlights

  • Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and click the highlight, or
  • Hold Alt and click the highlight.
  • Use the Clear All Highlights on This Page button for a fresh start.
